This waffle maker is great. I bought it knowing that if I got wife something shiny for the kitchen she would use it. We have used it four times so far and tried three different recipes. Cooking the waffles on the highest heat for about 3 minutes works best for us.

We haven't had a waffle even try to stick to the iron yet, every one comes out easy. There is very little cleaning involved after use. It heats up quick, cooks fast and is easy to maintain.

There are more expensive options out there, but if you like traditional sytle waffles this is a good one to go with.

Color, texture, non-stick coating, heat distribution, the floating hinge, and the instruction/recipe booklet altogether make this waffle iron perfect. Reading the booklet most likely will save some frustration/hassle. I did my research, I know this brand is reputable and took the leap on something with one review here and none anywhere else. I wanted American and square waffles with decent color tone throughout, this waffle iron definitely brings that to the table. I can't complain one bit about any single factor about this waffle iron.
Only in the instance that the reliability or consistency factor drop, will I change my rating/review.

The good: Non-stick coating does it's job, at least until you get to the 5th set of waffles, then it starts leaving batter residue.

The mediocre: Makes crispy waffles IF you ignore the instructions & let it cook twice; meaning the light will turn off, you lift the lid, the light goes back on 7 it cooks for an extra minute, if it's on the highest stetting. Cleans well enough if you use a damp rag on it while it's hot & cooking, as the waffle batter will harden if you don't get it right away.

The bad: Never touch this thing without a hot-pad. Also, since it's a flat waffle maker, there WILL be spillage, spillage in hard-to-wash places.

Teh ugly: When I first got this thing, I noticed what appeared to be metalicy black chunks of nonstick coating in my waffles, but it stopped after I scrubed the s**t out of this thing with a dish brush.

Conclusion: Chef's Choice 6 Square Waffle is a much better value than the 2 Square, as this makes 2 for $50 & it makes 6 for $100, plus you won't have to refill it as often & it won't get the residue or the frequent batter spillage.
